WEST NORTH Amazonic corridor – Republic of Bolivia E-mail

There is a road in Bolivia connecting La Paz and the Yungas region. This road of 184 km long is one of the most dangerous ones around the world, also known as "carretera de la muerte" (the road of death) since the unevenness of the soil produces tragic accidents. This tight and steep bi-directional lane is mainly used by buses and tracks.

Today, there are several retrofitting works being performed in this road to offer higher security to its users. La Sociedad Accidental Argentina- Bolivia (ARBOL), a member company of Grupo ELING, endorsed the public contract under turnkey basis along with the Administradora Boliviana de Carreteras for the construction of National Road N 3 Santa Bárbara- Caranavi- Quiquibey, part of the corridor West-North with the aim to connect the north of the department of La Paz with Beni and Pando, within the Amazonic corridor that will link the north of Brazil with Chilean and Peruvian ports through Bolivian soil. Connecting the Amazonic area in Bolivia with the Pacific is a key factor for the economic development of these regions.

ARBOL has under its responsibility the retrofitting of the existing project, the study of the final design, quality control and works execution. They estimate they will take five more years to complete the project.
